Creative Women

Have you ever felt the satisfaction of discovering that you have a new skill? It is a great feeling of self-confidence, surprise, and pride towards our new work and ourselves. In the last workshop that I gave, it happened to a participant and also to me. I would like to share this experience with you.

Sandri Designer

She was motivated by the concept of the workshop: Hand Painted Denim, even though she had no previous drawing or painting experience. She felt nervous at the idea of drawing;

I invited her to lose her fear and follow some tips, she was succeeding! When her first flowers were ready, she realized that it was not so difficult and that she could do it in the same way, it happened at the time of painting. At that moment she confessed to me that, for many years, she thought she was bad at drawing and that is why she did not try.

Fear can paralyze us and prevent us from daring to face new challenges- to face them sometimes we just need a push or someone to advise us well to realize that we can do more than we think. During the 5 months that I have been living in Eindhoven, I have faced many fears. The first was to decide to live in another country with a language, culture, climate (the list can go on) different from ours. With this decision come many more, but you have to be brave. It helps me a lot to think: "The best way to learn is by doing", and then to get to work.

Continuing with the experience of my participant, while her painting progressed, she commented on how pretty the piece was and that she was very happy. The workshop was also art therapy. So I also began to reflect on the impact that a 1-2 hours workshop can have on participants.

In my case, I was also proud, the participants were motivated and the projects turned out very well. Giving workshops teaches me that no matter how old you are, you can always learn something more. I am 28 years old and in each workshop I take lessons, I feel more capable and happy to continue something that I did in my country of birth: Peru. There I started a beautiful business with my mother and best friend, and together we motivated each other. Now I am doing it alone in Eindhoven, meeting many women and motivating myself together with the International Creative Women!
