A traditional Dutch lunch is a creative sandwich or broodje in Dutch. This broodje can be made with a large variety of ingredients and their combinations. There are options to appeal to every taste.

The base is a slice of bread that you can combine, for example, with sweet ingredients, fruits, meat, fish, and elaborate sauces. Of course, with typical Dutch cheese, a kroket or hagelslag is a must-have taste combination. Lunch is usually accompanied by a beverage, consisting of milk, tea, or juice.

There are many advantages of the Dutch broodje culture. For instance, it is very easy to prepare. Also, you don't need a microwave or a stove to heat your lunch. It makes your lunch break more efficient in terms of time. You only need 30 minutes to make and enjoy it. In the afternoon after lunch, you don't go back to work full and sleepy, but re-energized and satiated. Of course, this option of lunch is easy on the pocket, too!

We welcome you to experiment with your own broodjes recipes. This is an excellent way to explore and expand your Dutch culinary skills!
