Little things you can do every day to be happier

Because who doesn't want that?

 

Everyone always says they want to become happy later. But why wait for later? It is important to be happy now. That's why I have a list of little things you can do daily to be happier, without having to wait for later.

 

Lists 

Make a list of at least five things you really appreciate. This can be things you take for granted, like health or friendship. But if you really appreciate it when a beautiful bird sits on your fence, you can also put this on the list. 

 

90/10 principle 

Try to live by the 90/10 principle. This means that 10% of your happiness depends on things that happen to you and 90% on how you react to them. This should make you look at your actions more consciously and therefore more positive in life.

 

Put in perspective 

Nothing is as important as putting things in perspective. This means that when situations arise, you think about how bad it is. For example, you are late for work because your bicycle tyre is flat. On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is it really? Want to bet that after a moment of putting the problem into perspective, it wouldn't be so bad anymore?

 

Change your question

We often ask at dinner in the evening how everyone's day went. Ask them enthusiastically what the highlights of their day were. Chances are that the person who was asked this question will have a more detailed answer than when asked how their day was.

 

Posture 

Good posture is important! This means: walk upright, show a smile and greet people friendly. Most people don't do this easily, thinking they won't get a greeting in return. But how much do you like it when someone greets you with a friendly smile? 

 

Don't be afraid to follow the list and make yourself happy!
