Art at Eindhoven Airport presented by Piet Hein Eek

Ladies and gentlemen, art is getting its place in our city. From September 17th, 2020 Van Abbe museum will show Eindhoven’s finest creations from artists like Tijs Rooijakkers and The Ruggeds on Eindhoven airport.  This will be represented by the famous Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek. 

Piet Hein Eek presents

The man behind the scrap wood. This description fits very well on this Dutch designer. In 1990 the artist graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, where he immediately started his business – Piet Hein Eek. The company is now based in an old Phillips building in Strijp. Piet Hein Eek will present all the artworks that Van Abbe museum has selected. 

 

Tijs Rooijakkers, the artist that makes opposite attract  

Tijs Rooijakkers is a visual artist who has his own art studio in Eindhoven. The designer is well known for his revolutionary work the ‘Supertol’ that is placed nearby the mall in Woensel. With this art piece Rooijakkers won the ‘Eindhoven Cultuurprijs’ in 2017. The artist creates artwork that makes ‘two opposites attract’ such as past & present and standing still & movement. ´Leap into the Deep´ -his sculpture- is located on the campus of Eindhoven University. All The exhibitions from this designer are displayed at the Van Abbe museum in Eindhoven and will be shown at the airport. 

The Ruggeds

Breakdance group The Ruggeds will showcase their performance in this airport. The b-boy club is formed together in the city of lights, Eindhoven, where the passion for dance has become their routine. The guys have a great resume. They worked with Justin Biebers music video ‘Where are you now?’  and in 2018 the competed on an American television dance show called ‘World of Dance’. This formation did not go home empty handed. In 2014 they won their first world title during UK’s B-boy Championships. Roy Overdijk, Rico Ebenizer Coker, Virgil Dey, Jessy Kemper, Niek Traa, Lee-Lou Demierre, Tawfiq Armani, Andy Tjong and Sjoerd Poldermans will showcase their choreography in Eindhoven airport.
